About Us

Established in January 2021 and sponsored by First Baptist Church of Ashland, our troop welcomes young women ages 10 to 17. We offer a fun and supportive environment for troop members to learn and grow—both individually and as a team. Troop meetings focus on a wide array of skills and knowledge, including Internet safety, first aid, outdoor safety, physical fitness, positive interpersonal relationships, conservation, and community service. With a few exceptions, we go camping once a month as a troop, and members are encouraged to attend district events such as Merit Badge Weekend, various camporees, and summer camp. We also plan several day trips throughout the year, including a biking excursion; hikes; and visits to museums, caverns, and other places suggested by members of the troop (adult leaders approve and chaperone all activities). Troop 709 is always thrilled to have new members, and parents are welcomed to join our Troop Committee or—with required approval and training through the Boy Scouts of America—become adult leaders.
